Glucometrics

Ok Illustrious POC Folks!!
My inpatient diabetes coordinator is asking me about tracking glucometrics. She asked me about the following:
The recommendation is to look at our data (hypo as well as uncontrolled hyper) to assess baseline performance, track performance over time and compare like units to each other. They also recommend benchmarking data with other similar hospitals, like the one Society of Medicine recommends (which was a link to Yale).
Does anyone recommend a site/tool to allow us to benchmark with similar hospitals? Or how do you track glucometrics at your facility?
Thanks in advance for your valuable insight!!

Amber,
Our Diabetes Coordinator works with us (POCT dept) for similar metrics. She also uses it to tackle staff performance of meter cleaning. We pull a daily report from Telcor QML and send to her team. Please email/call me, and I'll send you a sample report or put you in contact with our Diabetes Coordinator.
Thanks, Jenny

If I received that request, I would point them to our Clinical Informatics (EMR people) to pull data for them. I'm not aware that we track this in our hospital.
We pull reports from Telcor monthly and manipulate them so we can supply monthly data to our diabetes educator and pharmacy. We break the results out in the following result ranges, <70, 71-180, 181-250, 251-399 and 400-599. The statistics are by month and we break it our further by floor. Our goal is to have greater than 70% of all results within the range of 70-180mg/dL. We found that by adding the patient rounding in our ICU has made this a very attainable goal for all others to strive for and have sinceimplemented patient rounding throughout the organization. We do exclude the emergency department and nursery from our data.
