Possible Heparin Reactivity Issue Causing Discrepant ACT results in Cath Lab

Our cardiologists have told us that the ACT results on the i-STAT are discrepant, but then mentioned that there was also a possible problem with the reactivity of the heparin being used nationwide. Of course, they couldn't tell us which patients were involved. We're having them document the lot number of heparin that is being used, in addition to notifying us when the situation occurs.
Has anyone heard of any problems with heparin reactivity or had any problem with discrepant ACT testing on the i-STAT recently?
Thanks!
Linda

I would like a copy of it also. Our perfusionists also commented on the current quality of heparin. They were getting it from China and the pigs got sick. We were having problems with the HMS-Plus. We now use I-stats for ACTs.
Thank You!

I uploaded my ACT/Heparin study to the file cabinet on here if anyone else needs. I think at this point I have sent it out to all who has asked for it.
GREAT JOB Ashlee!! Thanks for sharing your work with all of us!
I second that Ashlee!!
Was going to say the same thing as Linda.
You're everyone's hero!
Glad I can help! :)
We use the Hemochron Signature Elite with ACT+ cartridges and I have not had concerns expressed to me as of yet. I am attaching the raw results of my last correlation study to share as well: Hemochron ACT+ Correlation August 2019.xlsx. It would be interesting to know if the heparin doseages and ACT+ results correlate well with other facilities that are using the Hemochron.
