TEGs, POCT and kids

Happy Friday Eve!
For those of you that have TEGs I have a couple of questions.
- 1. Do you have TEGs in POCT or core Lab?
- 2. Do you perform TEGs on kids?
- 3. Since it's high complexity on kids, who performs the testing?
Thanks in advance
Adonica

Hi Adonica,
We run TEGs in the main lab, on our kiddos, run by MTs in coag.
Reine
Our TEG is in Core lab. We don't run TEG on kids because we don't have a large peds patient population.
We have 3 TEG's. 2 POC for open hearts and one in the lab for inpatients. No kid testing.
I have a TEG in CVOR performed by perfusionists. There is also a TEG in the lab. We do not perform on children.
Does anyone know of a POC TEG? The doctors are saying there is one that is portable.
thanks,

We have 3 TEGs total. One in the lab and 2 in the heart rooms which the perfusionists run. We do not do any testing on kids and I have not heard of a "portable" instrument.
