Lactate on ABL Radiometer 800 series

Due to the recent Abbott recall of CG4 cartridges, we are exploring the option of running lactates in the ED on the one ABL radiometer that we currently use for blood gases only.  Does anyone have experience in this, and suggestions on how to make the transition successful?  Specifically interested in learning about validation, training and implementation.  Only RT and Lab staff are currently trained to use our Radiometer.
