Foreign Diplomas

For those of you who have staff with a foreign diploma, how do you verify that their diploma is equivalent to a U.S nursing degree?  Does your HR verify this, or do you have the staff member or department pay to have their degree verified by a 3rd party? Thank you in advance.

CAP GEN.54400 Personnel Records Phase II
If a diploma or primary source verification (PSV) report does not specify one of the required areas of study (biology, chemistry, etc.) or are for training obtained outside of the US, there must be records showing that qualifications are met using other acceptable means (eg, transcripts, equivalency evaluation). The training and qualifications of all personnel trained outside of the US must be evaluated to determine equivalency to an education obtained in the United States, with records of the evaluation available in the personnel file. Equivalency evaluations must be performed by a nationally recognized organization, such as the National Association Credential Evaluation
Services, Inc. (NACES) (http://www.naces.org) and the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) (http://www.aice-eval.org).

It gives you links to approved Credentialing Evaluation Services to get a primary source verification--this is the responsibility of the staff member to provide evaluation prior to training.
