Transport of asymptomatic inpatient NP and OP swabs before elective procedures

Hello,
Our hospital is testing asymptomatic inpatients scheduled for elective surgery or procedures for COVID-19 to verify they are negative before the procedure begins. Can those OP or NP swabs be transported through the pneumatic tube system?
I know that the CDC does not recommend it for PUI or suspected patients. However, I cannot find any guidance for the suggested COVID-19 testing before elective surgery or procedures on asymptomatic inpatients.
Does anyone use the pneumatic tube system for those types of specimens?
Thanks!
