My site is using whole blood lith. heparin for ctnI and whole blood edta for bnp.

Has anyone using plasma as the sample type for these particular analytes to your i-Stat?

Thank you.

Using plasma as a sample type makes it a LDT and high complexity because plasma is not an approved sample type.   Just be aware of the headaches that come with that :).

We had on occasion used plasma but it has been years. I just now checked the CTI for both troponin and BNP-both state that plasma is acceptable (of course using the appropriate anticoagulant). Since there have been so many changes, I went to the Abbott site for the CTI, not trusting older ones.
