Can someone clarify for me what the proficiency CAP testing requirements are for waived testing?
Specifically I’m looking into provider (MD) performed testing with gastooccults and hemoccult slides. Our ED doctors run them.
also- I’m new to the group so I hope I posted correctly

CAP requires proficiency testing for all tests, including waived tests. Just make sure, if the lab is performing the same test, that you choose a different PT provider so that there is no chance of falling afoul of the law not to compare results. Even if you don't compare, you don't want the appearance of it being done.
CAP requires proficiency testing for all tests on the Laboratory CAP ID test menu, so if your Main Laboratory is performing the fecal and gastric occult blood test and the ED/MD areas are working under your same Main Laboratory CAP ID, you would only need to order one PT survey kit and rotate it through the locations.
