Istat results for patient temperature changes

We do blood gases on infants that are undergoing a cooling temperature protocol. The results on the istat correct from the patient current temperature as manually entered to results if the body temp was 37C. We originally set this up so that the corrected results at 37C report to EPIC. We thought the doctors were used to seeing those results. Now we have a critical result based on the calculation to 37C but the doctor doesn't want to take action on that because the value at the current temperature is not critical. The thought here is treatment based on the results at the current temperature because that is the patient's temperature.

We report both the temperature corrected and the measured blood gas results. Action taken is at the physicians descretion. That's why we correct for the patient's actual temperature. It aids in their decision making process.
Hi Diana,
We set up temp corrected orders in QML, Sunquest and EPIC for our Istat blood gas cartridges. The temp corrected results (pH, pO2 and pCO2) are the ones that post to the chart and the 37C results are not sent. The other results are sent as normal.
We always report both sets of results.
Our emr only shows the corrected temp. However, the istat printout shows both the corrected result and the 37C result.
