IT testing server

We are evaluating switching to EPOC as the ISTAT G3+ and CHEM8 that we use are not FDA approved for capillary collections.
We thought our ducks were in a row but now two IT questions.
Thoughts on
1. Do we have to get POCcelerator? PRO/CON
2. Do you have a separate server for trying changes prior to making them in your "live" server?
Sorry if the lingo is wrong, IT is not in my wheelhouse.

We do not use POCcelerator. So, I cannot provide input there. We do use our LIS (SunQuest) and Telcor prior to EPIC chart. We do have test systems for both that are separate from Production (Live).
Good Luck!
We are going to Siemens EPOC from iSTAT for that reason and more. It will be interfaced=
hospital wifi -> epocelerator -> Telcor (middleware) -> Cerner (HIS)
A test system is also part of the build which is separate from the "live" patient environment.
We are just starting this project.
The need for Epoccelerator is largely dependent on:
do you need the EPOC interfaced? ( I would think: yes)
Hi Diana,
We are currently in the process of making the switch from istat to epoc. We use RALS and aren't using the POCelerator. Regarding your second question, it would probably benefit you to have a conversation with your Lab IT person and your middleware to see how to safely go about your interface testing. (I say this as I just had this conversation yesterday with my Lab IT person :) Again, we are in the middle of this right now, and it is a totally new thing for me, so that's about all the information I have. Good luck with everything!
We use RALS and Meditech. Our testing is set up by putting a ZZ in front of the actual account number ( or whatever you use as your patient ID). This signals
it to go to our Meditech test system. I didn’t read the original question so this may be futile information for you.
J We are switching from Meditech to EPIC someday and are purchasing a RALS test server for that so
we can test extensively.
We don't have EPOC but we do have Test systems for our QML, Istat and Novanet. Any changes or upgrades we do there first then move them to prod.
