Accucheck Inform II loaners

Hi,

I'm looking to find some tip how anyone here handles glucometer loaners to the floors. I have reserved loaners to Motherbaby & NICU units and some designated to the floors. Do you right away have to update the loaner's new location in data management before you loan it? I am referring the update because the settings from our data management and the users' assigned location might cause the user not to get access to the meter. I'm planning to assign my loaners to designated floors and have all the users assigned to them. Since sometimes, glucometers have issues during the weekend, none from weekend Techs know what to do. I am trying to find an easy way that Techs will be comfortable to loan our loaners on weekends and even after office hours.

Thanks in advance.

We do not assign operators to locations. All of our staff have privileges in all locations.   Staff frequently move around or work in more than one place.  During the pandemic, many were redeployed as needed.  Loaners have a location of
“Loaner” so the general labs can give them to any floor on off shifts.  POCT Lab staff rename the meter later.

I do the same as Terry Hawkins. Our nurses are deployed as needed. I change the meter location name when notified of it being handed out.

I follow the same idea as Terry.  I have 3 sites, but only one central POC.  So, all users are assigned to all locations.  The meters are also assigned to all locations. The lab will send a meter to a location and then let me know the serial number.  I change it later.

Also allow all operators to all locations.

During pandemic or times that I cannot drive the base 3 hr round trip to the RALS server for reconfiguration, or have the time to build a new location in RALS, I put a note on the serial number ('device name') in RALS where the meter is temporarily assigned.

I really appreciate all your feedback.

Thank you so much.

My operators have access throughout the hospital.  I have a Back-up POC Instrument Checkout Log.  They list which Accu-chek they are taking and where and what is wrong with the one they are returning.  I will change the location in RALS when I get into work.

Gina,

Could you possibly send me a copy, KlaskeC2@ccf.org?  I don't have any kind of log at the moment.  Staff leaves sticky notes for me.
