Does anyone do the Antigen COVID test on the Sofia? How do you deal with the negative results?

From package insert
Serial testing should be performed in individuals with negative results at least twice over three days (with 48 hours between tests) for symptomatic individuals and three times over five days (with at least 48 hours between tests) for asymptomatic individuals.

Thanks,

WE reschedule a follow up visit, or send them home with an at-home antigen test kit

Debra how to do document the test- Presumptive negative? What happens if they do not return?
Does the clinic staff call to see what the at home test result is? What happens if they do not do the test?

HI
Our organization (100- bed Hospital & 3 Express Care Units) doesn't perform asymptomatic testing.

We report our SARS tests (SARS only & Flu/SARS Combo) as Presumptive Negative with the following interpretive data:
Negative SARS-CoV-2 results, from patients with symptom onset beyond five days, should be treated as presumptive and confirmation with a molecular assay, if necessary, for patient management, may be performed. Negative results do not rule out COVID-19 and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or patient management decisions, including infection control decisions. Negative results should be considered in the context of a patient’s recent exposures, history and the presence of clinical signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19. This is directly from the Combo kit intended use verbiage.

If a provider questions a negative rapid antigen result, they can order a RPP panel.  We leave this to their discretion.

If you are using the Sofia for SARS testing do you report it as Negative or Presumptive Negative? Do you add in a comment?

We report Presumptive Negative for both SARS only and the combo test.

Interpretive Data - has all the information, see attached copy
