Rotem Sigma vs Teg6

We are looking at bringing in either the Rotem Sigma or the Teg6. Can anyone that has already made that decision tell me why you opted for one over the other? Or if you switched, why did you switch? Thanks

We chose the Quantra over the Rotem and Teg6.  Anesthesia loves it and it much easier to use.  It requires a blue top to perform testing.

I wasn't here during the onboarding of the TEG but our CVOR uses it as well as the OR during a trauma. It is very simple to use and requires a full blue top tube. The only thing that we don't have a good handle on is the reporting. When we brought in the analyzer, they decided not to get the interface for it. Because of the nature of the test, the physician is looking at the live results and deciding whether or not to give products and which to give on the spot. That leaves it up to a paper trail to get finished results loaded into the patient's chart (which has been very lax around here). I don't know much about the other platforms but feel free to reach out if you have any questions on TEG.

I have used both Rotem and Teg6. Rotem is much more temperamental about vibrations, etc. If you bump the counter or instrument, the test fails so I do not recommend it for POC. Teg6 was wonderful from a POC standpoint. Results went straight into Epic with no issues. Definitely recommend the Teg6 over the Rotem.

Our facility purchased 11 TEG 6s last year.   2 are kept in the Core Lab which replaced an older ROTEM, and the other 9 are used for POC.    We have these strategically placed in our Cardiovascular Tower, ED, Labor, OR, and Trauma Tower.    We seriously  of these TEGs, and these are used appropriately by our physicians.

Kimberly - I have heard about the sensitivity to vibrations with ROTEM Delta, does the POC Sigma have the same issues?
Daniel - why did you choose the TEG6 over the ROTEM Sigma?

From what I have read about, the Sigma is not as sensitive to the vibrations because it is a cartridge based test similar to the TEG6. It also eliminates the manual pipetting required for the Delta and has better correlation to fibrinogen tests. That is just what a colleague of mine has told me. I have no direct experience with the Sigma.
