Radiometer ABL90 Cal Ver

Hello All,

Our facility uses the Radiometer ABL90 Flex Plus instrument. We found that several of our instruments did not meet manufacturer criteria for pCO2 when running our cal ver, all out low. The few devices that did meet criteria, passed on the low side. There have been no major trends in our onboard internal QC data. Has anyone else experienced the same issue recently?

From what I've been told by the manufacturer, the cal ver works best when run on a fresh reagent pack and sensor cassette and when run from level 5 down to level 1, instead of 1-5. I am not sure whyyyy they recommend that as you should be able to pass cal ver at any time, but that is what I have been told by technical service whenever I've had issues. Also, make sure your cal ver kit is at room temp for at least four hours. I know it's probably obvious, but they should also be mixed and open just prior to sampling.

Yes, I had this same issue with pCO2, level 2 on Lot 696. It was repeatable on multiple ABL90s and the QA Manager at Radiometer made me jump through a ton of ridiculous hoops to prove that it's a kit problem due to his belief that "bad lots don't exist."  In the end, I did get them to replace my bad lot but it was a drawn out, annoying process.

They most likely suggest starting with level 5 first to avoid causing a sensitivity status drift in the Calibration.
