Replacement Procedure for Quidel's Rapid Strep on the Sofia 2
Like many of you, we have been notified by Quidel that their Rapid Strep kit for the Sofia 2 will not be available for some time.....no target date provided.
As we look for a "temporary" replacement, it looks like we may need to go back to a manually reported kit that we used several years ago prior to our implementation of EPIC and RALS. All of our POCT is waived, and we want to remain so. Training over 700 operators and waiting for a build in EPIC seems like a huge task ...

Physician Requisition Orders for Point of Care testing
We almost got a deficiency for this.
All lab testing including point of care testing requires a requisition.
For example, when there is point of care glucose testing, the nursing staff can only perform the test when it is ordered by the physician.
When a physician/anesthesiologist runs an epoc or GEM blood gas test, they are required to have a requisition as well.
Even though the epoc test run under point of care is an unsolicited order, they still need a requisiti...
