Temperature Monitoring

I was wondering how everyone is managing temperature monitoring at their facility.

For maintenance/troubleshooting if a temperature is out, what steps are followed?
Is there a blanket statement of how long reagents may be good for outside of the acceptable limit?

Our lab went form CAP to JC accreditation and we just learned that a "full validation" is not required for a new iSTAT. I'm a little confused with this new process because before we were required to do a whole validation for new instruments.
