RapidPoint 405/500 lot to lot

I was recently cited by CAP for lack of confirmation of acceptability with lot to lot measurement cartridge comparison on RapidPoint ABG analyzer. I would be interested to know how others are accomplishing the lot to lot comparison.
Thanks in advance,
Sundee

You could do this with whole blood samples, though with most cartridge systems, the "break-in" period of calibration, QC, etc., after changing cartridges is too long to provide a reliable comparison using whole blood (the sample has likely degraded too much). CAP does allow for use of QC for those situations where patient samples are too unstable.
When we had RapidPoint we ran external controls on the cartridge that we were removing and then the new one. This was considered acceptable on inspection.
Thanks for the input.
