Are any of you using the Abbott Freestyle Precision Pro?  Our POC is interested because of its wireless capabilities.  If you are using it, what is your experience?

Thanks!

We got them in July.  My staff LOVE them!!  Faster upload of the patient list, faster test time.  Only drawback was the scanners/cameras were more particular.  But educate to the 30 degree angles and we're back in business!!

Thanks Amber,

You do use them wirelessly?    We have used Abbott for 4 years and have just switched to Freestyle.  Staff loves them too.  We are currently getting set for
wireless.

Yes, we use them wirelessly.  We used the PCx for years, then upgraded to PXPs (about 10+ years ago) and have been anxious about moving to a wireless device.  It has been a tremendous help most especially in our critical care areas with lots of EndoTool patients.

I was able to calculate we would save 45,000 RN/PCA hours a year by switching from the PXPs to wireless.  At first our CFO saw cutting FTEs as a cost savings, however I was also able to justify the additional time staff could use to improve patient satisfaction (HCAAPS) and better use the electronic charting system, which is incredibly time consuming and had lots of gaps due to cutting corners to save time.
