Description: Deficiencies identified during accreditation inspections of POC laboratories are often perceived as ‘negative’ or punitive. This session shifts that perspective, reframing deficiencies as critical opportunities for program improvement. This University Course is structured into Units, each focusing on common POCT deficiencies by topic area. We will provide a practical, hands-on approach to build awareness, enhance comprehension, and discuss effective strategies for resolving frequent laboratory deficiencies identified by regulatory and accreditation agencies. The session features interactive, “table teams” activities to foster engagement and encourage active participation from all attendees, including those new to the field. Each Unit’s tabletop exercise is designed to: - Simulate common inspection scenarios common in POC testing sites. - Discuss optimal courses of action and effective pivoting strategies. - Promote collaborative problem-solving that extends beyond ordinary deficiency resolution. Facilitated panel discussions will include real-world examples and relevant case studies.
