Outpatient Glucose Meters

What glucose meters are you using in your outpatient offices?  We were using the McKesson True Metrix Pro in all of my offices, but it currently has an FDA recall notice. I have to make a quick decision for a replacement!

We used the True Metrix Pro also and have now transitioned to the EvenCare G2 from Medline.

Unfortunately, this is the first I'm hearing about a recall. Thankful for this forum. Please forward any information about True Metrix and alternatives.

Initially, I just updated my procedure to reflect what to do if you get this error. Then the guidance changed to replacing them. I am signed up for a weekly email for FDA notices and recalls. That is where I originally found it. I did not get the information from McKesson or the company.

Is there a reason that you chose the EvenCare G2?  There are so many out there, that it is tough to make a decision that I have to make very quickly!

Nova StatStrip.

We went the Evencare G2 since we transitioned to Medline and that is their equivalent meter.  It does have "Voice Guidance"  so that is new :) and we have the ability to turn it off. Strips are good for 6 months once opened and controls are good for 90 days (like true metrix). QC is weekly and with each new bottle of strips.

We use Medline Harmony

Nova StatStrip Xpress 2 Glucose Hospital Meter

We also use EvenCare G2 from Medline.

There is not a recall notice for the True Metrix, only a notice about the E-5 error and how it may affect patients. A recall notice would require a complete stoppage of testing using the meter and patient follow up on any suspect results, which they have not indicated in any communication (FDA or otherwise).

However, for people using this meter in a home setting, they do recommend considering transitioning to another method, so this may be causing the confusion. In a clinic setting, we should be using the True Metrix Pro, which is intended for multiple patient use.

Thank you for the link! I was thinking of 'recall' in the terms of having to immediately stopping use, however, it also applies to a manufacturer making a correction to the product, as is the case here, but can still be used for patient testing.  What is a Medical Device Recall? | FDA

we just switched to Nova Stat Strip Express II meters for the endorsement of FDA approved for Critical Ill.
We were using the Roche Performa meters but they strips were sun downed- 12/2025

We are a very low volume outpatient clinic. Our facility just ordered the Arkray Assure Prism glucometers.  I noticed that in the CAP PSR there was a bimodal distribution problem with WBGQ-A 2026 which resulted in no peer data.  When I called CAP, they confirmed that the same thing happened with 2025 HCC2-D.  Does anyone use these glucometers, and if yes, have you experience problems with the matrix when running the CAP surveys?
