iSTAT INR and Creat in ED

Hello All,
I am looking for Coordinators out there that have iSTAT (or comparable product) INR and Creat in their ED/ER. I am wondering what QA/QM measures you have in place for safety and CMS/CAP/CLIA regulations. I don't have this testing in place, but am looking ahead to probably having to offer these tests.
Thank you,
Max

We do not perform INR on iSTAT in the ED. I am interested in who has requested it and for what reason.
There is an ED consultant that states this is a must have. We have kept POCT mostly out of our ED, but am seeing the writing on the wall that eventually I will need to offer some testing.
You might just be aware that the INR on I-STAT is only FDA approved as a monitor for Coumadin therapy. Any other usage is off label so be sure that ED staff are qualified to perform high complexity testing.
Sue,
Great point. I have brought this up in the past as well.
We only offer a Chem8 , Troponin and BNP in our ED.
The QA for the crea cartridges depends if you will be running them waived or non waived. Currently We run our testing non waived we run Chem8, ACT, and Crea.
