I did complete the program last year. I was new to POC and had a lot of questions. My employer covered a big part of the cost as educational tuition. Having little knowledge of all that POC entails, I found it very helpful. I even came across some items that our current program needed to address. The certificate also can be used this year in my annual review on the subject of Job Performance and Competency. If you have been a POCC for a while, most likely you know all of the content already. If you are fairly new or and still learning the ropes, I would suggest it.
Good luck,
Erika
The Specialist certificate is worth it especially if you are a new POCC.
For the seasoned POCC, it is a good review.
There’s always something new to learn.
I went ahead and took the Diabetes Specialist certificate and learned a lot about glucose testing.
I completed the certificate program a few years ago, when I was new to POC, and thought it was a wonderful learning tool, and well worth it.

I completed the program last year and loved it. I am a not new to the field but am a new POCC and I learned a lot from it and have referenced back to the information multiple times.
Thank you all for the info! I think I am going to sign up. I am not in the position yet but it is something I am working toward and I think this could give me a leg up!
Thanks again!
I took the course in 2014 and it was definitely worth the time and expense. I highly recommend it. In 2016 I took the Patient Safety Essentials for Laboratory Professionals Certificate course and this year I plan on taking another course. Any recommendations?
These certificate courses are very well done/presented. I've learned new and useful information in both of the courses that I've taken.
Go for it.
The POC Specialist Program was actually required for the POCC specialist position at my facility. It was very informative and a great addition to your resume.
