Does you have any issue with the directCHECK controls being low? What technique to you use for crushing and mixing the ampule? I have a couple new users who values are too low time after time. Any suggestions?

I think every new operator has this issue. Those controls are so highly technique driven. The more time it takes to break, mix, discard 1st drop, and finally place the drop in the well, the lower the result. As the newbie gains comfort with the technique, the values will go up.

The entire process should take no longer than 15-18 sec. It appears they are taking too long to complete the process which would account for the low results.
If the value is below range it is usually not thoroughly mixed or the user waited too long to load the cuvette.
Our process is:
remove plastic
loosen the cap
break, turn, break, turn, break, turn
shake vigorously 10 times to mix
waste the 1st drop into the cap
load sample
press start
Once broken it takes about 10-15 seconds
There's a video on YOUTUBE and on the vendor's website on how to break, mix, and dose. Basically, the mixing step is to hold it like you're about to throw a dart at a board, dropper end facing away, and then 10 forceful flicks of the wrist, waste a drop, then dose. It works.
Thank you that video was very helpful. ;)
Has anyone switched from i-STAT ACT-K to the Hemochron Signature Elite ACT? Can anyone who has used both, compare them?
Thanks
Hemochron?
