Hello,
Does anyone do Intraoperative PTH at the patient bedside? If so, what instrument? My organization is considering it.
Thanks!

We have done POC IO-PTH for over 10 years. We started with future diagnostics but when our instrument broke they said they wouldn't fix it because the model we had was so old, even though we had a service contract. It was a good work horse but a lot of steps involved compared to the TOSOH which we use now. It has a longer turn around time but was way cheaper, has in town service (future diagnostics resides in the Netherlands and you have to send the instrument back there if it breaks, they do come here to do annual PM) .
If you are thinking Nurses are going to run it then TOSOH for sure and good luck. POC is still in charge of it and we run it. No nursing. We have techs from other area's to help cover the busy schedule. I feel it is best to have it covered by a fully staffed department because OR times change ALL the time.
Hi Stacie,
We use Future Diagnostics Intra-operative PTH testing and you are welcome to contact me direct for any questions or details.

Hi
We have two locations within the ORs and we use the Cobas 411. It is run by techs and has the quickest TAT.
Cathy
We also use the TOSOH for PTH and core lab techs do the testing. POC is not part of it.
Hi,
Thank you all for your responses. I was hoping there would have been a small portable instrument that nurses would be able to operate with ease.
