Anyone performing Cord Blood Gasses on POCT devices?

I wanted to get a general feeling for how many of you are doing Cord gasses on any of your devices.
If so, what do you use? Have you had any issues with running them? Had they ever been run in the Central Lab and then switched to POCT?
If you don't, did you ever consider it and then decide not to?
Thanks in advance!

We perform cord gases on epoc. RT runs both cord venous and cord arterial. They choose the sample type in the meter and both tests are built in the LIS. We have no issues with these tests. We have never performed blood gases in the main lab even when we used benchtop analyzers.
WE run blood gases in the Main Lab using i-STAT.
WE don’t do them at POC even though they have i-STAT
Trying to get enough sample off those cords are tricky.
It is better done by RT or Lab.
Our respiratory department runs all blood gases including cord blood on I-Stats. We have never performed them in the lab.
We perform blood gases here on cord bloods( venous and arterial) on the EPOC devices. RT staff runs all blood gas testing. It works pretty well although the samples can be a bit problematic- clots are an issue. This used to be a bigger issue when they were run in our main lab on ABL/Radiometers.
RT runs cord gases on our i-STATS. It works well for us as we have an RT at every delivery.
Elizabeth,
We are currently performing cord gases in the Core Lab. We are in the process of switching to having RT perform the tests. I will let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed.
We recently implemented cord gases on iSTAT, previously done in the Lab. We set up 2 new sample types and build new profiles. It appears to be working well. It was done because L&D was complaining about TAT and calling of results. The only issue was an anecdotal mention that the doctors thought results were off but there was no details about which parameter and our correlations were spot on and apparently not enough of an issue to start sending to the lab again. We're in the process of implementing epoc for cord gasses. Just wanted to know if anyone has 'reference' ranges for arterial and cord samples. I've seen quite a few ranges on the internet but they we're for other blood gas instruments. The most complete listing of reference ranges came from Acutecaretesting.org, Duke University hospital. I would be very grateful for any help on this topic. Thanks, Pam
