i-STAT dropping part of MRN

Hello Everyone,
When one of our end user scans a patient with an MRN beginning with 96, using the i-STAT, the MRN that is transmitted to the RALS system is incomplete. The 96 is missing. So the results do not end up in the patients' chart because the MRN is incomplete. Does anyone else have this problem with MRNs that start with 96?

Check your RALS interface to see if it's set to drop off the 96. That may be the problem. Is the MRN your primary PT ID?

Yes it is. I was actually on the phone with both Abbott and Rals yesterday and we went through the De Data connection, and everything looked fine. There was nothing programmed to truncate the MRNs. So Abbott is having an Engineer call to look at it.
Try scanning the offending barcode into Notepad or a text program on your computer. This way you can see if the barcode itself is being read incorrectly or if there is something else happening downstream.
That is a good idea. When I spoke to Abbott they said that the i-STAT scans the 96 as a special character that is why it isn't picking it up. They have a firmware update that fixed this. So we have to replace all of our i-STAT in order to fix this issue.
