I need advice on if calibration verification is required on the Medtronic ACT Plus every 6 months. The POC CAP checklist specifically calls out that you do NOT need to do AMR verification every 6 months on clot based coag tests but the calibration verification section does not say this. Necessary or not?
The only product I'm aware of is the Medtronic Hepline kit that you add whole blood to and basically create 5 standards of heparinized blood. I remember this product being very tricky to use and to me it's not a true linearity - it's just "the more heparin you add to a sample, the longer your result in seconds". How is this useful information?
Thanks!

You are correct, clot-based tests do not need calibration verification. The kit you're talking about is a dose response test.
When would you use this kit then? I believe we initially used it for the method validation but I shouldn't have to do with with any replacement instrument or repair, correct?
Once you've used it to validate your method, you wouldn't need to use it again with a new device.
