SCAM alert!

Our regional POC group was recently "phished". They sent our treasurer an email that looked like it was coming from the president, instructing the treasurer to basically do a wire transfer of money. Since we're setting up our annual conference, it didn't seem too crazy, but when the instructions for transfer got weird, the treasurer contacted the president and we all discovered it was a scam. Our board decided to send out this warning to other groups. Since the officers of any non-profit can easily be discovered on line, this social engineering attempt is probably happening everywhere. Please be very suspicious of emails, and double-check everything that seems even slightly weird. This ended ok for us--no money exchanged hands.

Thanks for the heads up!

Very Happy to hear that all ended well Smile

Kudos to our fantastic Southwest Regional POC Group Treasurer and 'on the spot' President!
