LeadCare II QC problems
Hello - I've got some clinics using the Magellan LeadCare II device and I've been noticing some big problems with our QC lately. We've taken the device out of service a few times because we can't get QC to come in. It's usually Level 2 QC, usually running low. I've watched the med assistants collect and run QC, and I've run it myself and had it fail. I'm confident that I'm following the directions correctly. If we repeat the QC enough times we can get it to come in, but then why should I trust the patient results that are only run once if QC isn't coming in every time? We had lots of problems with lot 1805-07 and finally just stopped using it. We are now on lot 1907M-10. I"ve been checking QC weekly (more than needed, I know) and the first box was fine, but now on the second box (with the fresh QC that comes with that box) I"m seeing the QC failing again. I've called Magellan a few times and they are generally not very helpful. They have replaced a couple kits, but they don't service the device at all, and they don't have any suggestions. They say that I can get QC in so everything is fine... Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions?
Thanks for any help and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hemochron Sig Elite use outside of manufacturer temperature range | 2 | 0 | 170 |
Hello - In the past, I have noticed on occasion that the level 2 has run toward the low end of the range or just outside and failing. I found that if I really mixed the reagent well and a little extra time, it would then come in. Especially if it has been sitting for a long period of time in-between use. Depending on the volumes and compliance issues, we have most of our offices run QC weekly. I did reach out to Magellan too with little satisfaction. I have not seen or had this happen recently in the last 6-9 months.
