iSTAT Chem8 cartridge GFR

We are looking at going live with the Chem8 cartridge on the iSTAT soon (we were already treating it as moderate complexity because of the other testing we are running). We have DE/QML and our EMR is Epic.

Our Emergency Department will be performing the testing, but our radiology department only uses the GFR to determine if a patient can get contrast, not the creatinine. Is it okay with requirements to have Epic calculate the GFR result from the iSTAT testing or has anyone done anything similar? We are CAP accredited.

Thank you!

We have the GFR calculated by our middleware, Telcor.

For first, it is considered a high complexity test currently.  For the next part as long as you are performing the necessary checks associated with the moderate complexity testing (when it comes back from FDA) then it should be fine.
