Good morning!!

I have a question about comparability of methods.  Due to my facility switching my blood gas analysis from the i-STAT, I am only using my i-STAT for ACT testing and backup for cTnI.  I have no issues on doing verification for the cTnI but we have never dona a 6 month comparison on ACT.  Is there any of you that do bi-annual comparison of your ACT methods on the i-STAT?  If so, are you just following the linearity procedure in the i-STAT manual or another method.

Thanks!!

We have both: iSTAT cTnI and ACT.

You only have to do correlation studies if you have another system that performs the same test within the same facility.  So if they only system you have that does ACT is the iSTAT then you don't need to do it.

We do have one facility that has the Medtronic ACT and the iSTAT ACT so these two must have the correlation study performed to against eachother.  The other facilities only have the iSTAT ACT so the correlation study doesn't need to be done there.

You do need to do comparison studies between analyzers of the same type: example being iSTAT to iSTAT.  We use the QC for this = easy.

You do have to do the correlation studies regardless of it being a backup test or not.  So if you did one iSTAT troponin test within the year you have to perform the correlation study to the main lab analyzers for troponin.

iSTAT ACT doesn't have a linearity that I'm aware of being a coag test.

Good morning,

I have a question about ACT verification. If you buy a new ISTAT for ACT testing, do you do ACT controls level 1 and 2 in duplicate over 2 days? I'm already doing the ISTAT to  ISTAT comparison with controls. Thanks!

Yes you still have to do Accuracy and precision on the new iStat.

We use the QCC from CAP to compare ACT on iSTAT, I just compare 3 iSTAT handhelds.  I do not do any AMR since coag testing is exempt from that.  ivy

How many devices do you have to compare?  Can you use a subset or do you have to compare all POC devices?
