I am wanting to remove the log sheet that we are using to document that maintenance was performed on the glucose meter after each test. Does anyone do this by having them document directly on the meter?

We have the Nova StatStrip glucometer loaded with canned comments and one of the canned comments to choose is the required maintence (Instrument Cleaned). The staff can choose any comment when running QC and patient tests. I can then run reports in Telcor to monitor that the maintence is being performed by the comment they chose while using the device.

We don't keep any paper logs for cleaning related to the glucose meter.
Yes, we have canned comments.
We do not audit for use of the canned comments though.
