HEMACHRON SIGNATURE ELITE CUVETTE USE IN CATH LAB

We are transitioning from the Hemochron response to the Hemochron Signature Elite.  For most cases the LR cuvette shows good correlation with the response.  Some cases require higher ACT results so the Cath Lab is getting > results with the LR cartridge. The docs want a number and not just a >.   Does anyone use both the LR cartridges and the + cartridges in their Cath Lab settings?

Hi Rick!

We are actually in the process of validating the ACT + cartridge for those Cath Lab patients where there is a higher ACT expected.

Rick-
We also use both LR and + Cartridges - but never interchangeably.  If there is an anticipated high ACT, start with the + and stay with it.  Our perfusion team uses ACT+ almost exclusively. We were always instructed that the results in the <400 range may not have good agreement between cartridge types.  Michele Naples

We use both cartridges in the cath lab.  The regular cardiologists use the ACT-LR and our EP cardiologist uses the ACT+.  All of the cardiologists & cath lab nurses were told that they cannot use them interchangeably.

We use the LR(celite)  cuvettes in the cath lab, IR and the CCU.  The ACT+ (Kaolin) cuvettes are only used in the CVOR. The devices are configured for one or the other cuvette and will not work with the ones that are not in their assigned device configuration.

We do like Gloria.  Our Cath Lab, PICU, NICU, CICU, IR, Dialysis and ECMO use the LR cartridges and our CVOR use the + and we have our instruments set to only accept the cuvette type for that unit.

Would anyone be able to share your ranges used for Hemochron Signature Elite ACT+ and ACT-LR if you are using both cuvette types in your cath lab?  We are currently only using ACT-LR but we are in the process of evaluating the use of ACT+ for the EP cath lab only and maintaining the use of ACT-LR in the other cardiac cath lab procedures.
