Multiple ABL90 Analyzer

Hello,
For those of you who have multiple ABL90 Analyzers. When you did your validation, did you do method comparison on each analyzer with your gold standard or did you just choose 1 ABL90 and then did the whole method comparison on it? Just wondering how others are doing it because I did ours on 1 ABL90 vs other instruments and then I picked the primary ABL90 compared it to the other 5 ABL90's.  Would love to know how others are doing it. Also, for those who are not just using it for arterial and venous, did you do separate accuracy validation on different specific specimen types like cord blood and capillary? Thank you so much.

Donna,

When we replaced our BG analyzers, we did a method comparison against our gold standard with one of new analyzers and then used that one analyzer to compare against the rest. (13 additional BG analyzers).

Thank you Nicholas. Do you also use capillary samples for it or cord blood samples aside from venous or arterial?

Unfortunately, our POC areas do not. Our Pediatric respiratory group which is not managed by POC does perform capillary and cord blood samples. I would not think you would have to perform an accuracy study for the different specimen types, because analytically the specimens should be measured the same by the analyzer.  Although, since the reference ranges are different for the specimen types. I would think that a reference range verification study would be necessary.
