My clinic uses it. What would you like to know?
Hi Jill, did you validate the system to Lab osmolarity testing, and if so how? What type of training, policy/procedure have you worked up for this device? What is your QA oversight of the system and testing process? I have a meeting today with the Ophthalmology department so any advice and help I greatly appreciate. thank you!
I didn't do a validation - the system was already in use when I came on as POC (I'm the first POC for our large clinic). I did write up the procedure (I can send it to you if you'd like). We have a fairly small and stable group of users for this test, so they perform well. They do daily and monthly QC, and yearly skills competency testing (verbal/demo). I check QC logs monthly. They have a great supervisor who is also the super user and she makes sure all new staff are properly trained and signed off before they start patient testing.
Just emailed documents to you
Thank you so much! So there wasn't a validation document from your predecessor?
There wasn't a POC 'dept' before me. Every dept did whatever they wanted pretty much. It's been a bear to get everything straightened out and try to get everyone on the same page/test. The Ophthalmology dept decided they wanted TearLab, so they got it. I'm not sure how long they have been using it. But at least they were following the directions for QC.
