Troponin I

Do you all have a critical range set for POC troponin I? Specifically in the pediatric population where troponin really hasn't been studies that much?
We use the iSTAT cTnI cartridge with the normal range of 0 - 0.08. For reasons unknown to me, when the test was set up the critical range was set at >0.08 needing a comment.

Now (for many reasons) we are going to be running some samples in the lab on the istat and we need to manually enter results into the LIS and it was discovered that an official hospital critical range for troponin was never discussed years ago. Is there a critical for peds? Or is greater than normal just considered "Positive"?

We do not have critical values for cTnI. Our normal reference range is 0.00-0.4.

Hello
The following journal article has excellent current information related to pediatric TnI levels that may be able to help you.
