Clinic POC glucose meters

NOVA StatStrip Xpress (StatStrip but the little bitty - no scanner meters)  

We are in the process of switching from the Roche AccuChek Inform II to the Nova StatStrip. 

Statstrip has 2 meters that use the same strip and controls. One has is bigger and has the scanner and is used in our hospital. The other is a small - not interfaced and used in clinics.  

I was curious to see if anyone used anything else besides the Nova Statstrip Xpress 2 meter in the clinics and had better luck. I did propose to do a switch to the Nova Statstrip Xpress 2 meter but was denied because of the expense and the problem with the Evencare meters have decreased. 

Was the Evencare problem related to a particular strip lot?  We had a problem with one level of QC that failed repeatedly.  We were able to get the manufacturer to replace that QC lot.

The first time, it was that issue with the strips and the company did replace the strips for that. After that for about a few months, some of my clinics were still having issues with QC not passing. I re-educated and made sure they were not directly dosing from the strips and they say they weren't.

I haven't heard of any issues lately, but I still keep my eye out for a better alternative. I just worry that there really isn't no better alternative besides the nova Statstrip Xpress 2 meter.
