Lead testing using filter paper with LabCorp/MedTox

Happy Monday all!
I know this isn't quite POCT but does anyone's facility use LabCorp/MedTox for Lead testing where the sample is on filter paper?  One of our docs brought this up as an alternative to our LeadCare while it's in recall and I wanted to see if anyone had any knowledge about this.

Thanks in advance :)

Good morning. I have used them before. It's not bad. What would you like to know?

Do you know if it correlates well if there is an elevated value?  Since it only uses 2 drops on a filter paper the sites could collect that alot easier than having the child go to an outside drawing station and we would have better compliance.

It will. The only interfering factors is in the handling of the filter paper but they give detailed instructions on how to handle it to avoid that. I believe that they test the first and if it's elevated they test the second to confirm. The doctors here really like it. It is fast and easy for the child so that they don't have to get a draw or sent somewhere else. The results are faxed back to the office but I think they can be interfaced.

Great!  Thanks Jason!

We don't test filter paper lead at Tricore; we discontinued filter paper collections in 2019 because they're prone to environmental lead contamination. We have the sites collect the micro capillary devices.

Kathleen - what is the test/company for the micro capillary device? I'm trying to find an alternative to LeadCare as well.

We don't use a specific capillary tube--whatever the clients give us, but it's a lavender-top 500UL capacity bullet. It comes to our Esoteric chemistry department.
