iSTAT blood gases compared to GEM

Our facility has used iSTAT EG7 for blood gases along side Radiometer for years. We are now looking at replacing the Radiometer with GEMs.  Any pros or cons on the GEMs? And also wondering how the GEM compares to the iSTAT.
Thanks
Kim

Get the GEMs!! We had Radiometer...the GEMs are sooo much more user friendly! You won't be disappointed!
I use CG4, CHEM8 and CG8. My method comparisons are within tEA.

Hi Kim, the huge advantage of the GEM5000 is that all QC is internal. There is something called IQM2 that will do a check with every test. We have them at one of our hospitals and we love them. You can do blood gas testing as well as metabolites (all but creat) on the GEM as well.

Also, we compare our GEM 5000 every 6 months with i-STAT as well as the laboratory instruments (ABLs) and have acceptable results.

Thanks Kathleen and Christina!
I figured they would compare well. What do you guys use as you acceptable comparison criteria? We have been using the CAP survey participant summary
