sO2 and HGB in Cath lab - what instrumentation ?

Question: What POC instrumentation is your facility using in the Cath Labs and OR's for sO2 and hemoglobin? (excluding the Avoximeter)

This system would need:
  • Measured co-ox results from a blood sample, not calculated results.
  • Interfaced: results automatically upload into the EMR.
  • User restriction updatable through the interface.
  • Integrated QC, (system is designed as a POC analyzer used by non-lab staff)
  • Fast results

Thanks,

Jeremy

We switched from Avox to Radiometer ABL80 Flex OSM this year with no major issues.

We are going to be switching from the avox to the Gem 5k.

ABL80 to ABL90

We have ABL80 OSM Flexx like Donna.  We don't have it interfaced but it could be.

Thanks all.  We also switched away from the Avox, we chose the Nova Prime Plus which is similar in nature to the ABL90 which was the runner up.  We also looked at the Gem 5000.
As I'm sure your all aware these systems can NOT perform the test in 10 seconds like the Avox could and I've gotten a lot of resistance because of this.

We currently use the Avox.  Curious why others are moving away?

We use the GEM along with the Avox - they want the quicker SO2 results from the Avox

I am following also.....we are just starting the Avoximeter because our Cath Lab does not want to wait the extra time to send the gases to the lab to be run on our GEM 5000.  Are there downfalls to the Avox that we are not aware of?

We use the ABL90 in our cathlabs and CVORs.  We have programmed 6 different panels that they can pick.  Results in 36 seconds.  Not as fast as the AVOX but they love having the ability to run other gas panels.
