Hi has anyone noticed a backorder for the Hemochron LR cuvette QC vials? What would you do with your IQCP if you couldn't run the monthly liquid QC because it's not available? Thanks in advance.

I have contacted Werfen several times to plead our case and we were shipped on box of the normal and 2 of the abnormal to get us through. I highly recommend bugging them and your rep to get at least one box. Since it is the manufacturers recommendation that QC be run every 30 days, we planned our QC to be run towards the end of the month to give Werfen time to ship us more QC.

I had a presentation with our rep yesterday and they said they are on allocation, but if you reach out to the sales rep they can get you some to get by with. They said the projected date to get out of allocations is March unfortunately.

I keep pestering. We are rationing the QC material, limping along..

Also-- can someone please provide me with the manufacturer's statement that recommends monthly LQC? I did not find it explicitly stated in the manual. The IQCP I inherited has us running weekly LQC. If I could temporarily cut that back to even bi-monthly while this shortage is on, it would be helpful.

Gloria-- The information regarding weekly LQC is in the package insert for the individual cuvettes. For example, this is copied from the LR cuvette PI:

QC of the Hemochron Jr. Test Cuvettes
Each lot of Hemochron Jr. ACT–LR cuvettes should be validated for performance at two liquid quality control levels:

When a new shipment is received, AND
Once per 30 calendar days thereafter

Following successful performance validation as above, the cuvettes will not require any further liquid quality control unless a shift in clinical results is suspected.

It also depends on how your IQCP is set up.
