Missed CAP Proficiency Test -Quality Cross Check

Hello, fellow POCC's!

Can anyone share any experience/input, please - I joined a new lab/hospital just recently and 3 days into my new office, as I was cleaning up, I found that there was a CAP PROFICIENCY TEST for "Quality Cross Check  ACT" that was not performed nor submitted to CAP on the due date. I went in the walk-in fridge to check the samples, but they were way past expiration date. I called CAP to get some guidance. They said the samples for that particular kit is not anymore available, and that since it is a "cross check," it is not reported to the regulatory agencies.

Any advice as to what I should do in this case, fellow POCC's? Thank you!

Just document what occurred. As Cap said it is only a cross check. Hopefully you reported the ACT PT for that event. Make sure you report the  cross check next time it comes.

Instrument-to-instrument correlation or quality cross-check needs to be done twice a year.  Since you miss this one, you can do a correlation among all your ACT instruments using QC materials.

I use them for my biannual correlations for my 7 Hemochron SE device along with QC materials, and split samples.  Can you find any historical info that your facility normally runs these to be evaluated by CAP?
