Does anyone use an alternative for the Avoximeter for Cath Lab Patients?

We use the ABL80 and just report out sO2. That device is set to be phased out in 5 years and the ABL90 is the manufacturer suggested replacement.

We are thinking about using the i-STAT to replace the avoximeter.  Does anyone use the i-STAT blood gas cartridges?

We transitioned last year to the ABL80

We transitioned from the Avox's to the Nova Prime Plus.  The Radiometer ABL80 was a close runner up for us and a very similar analyzer.
If you make a similar transition be aware, these systems can not perform a 10 second co-ox tests like the Avox.  This is quite a shock to the users.   However, these analyzers are more regulatorily compliant than the 40 year old Avox.

If your Cath lab is like ours, you might as well stick to the Avox. The doctors took great issue on the amount of time the Nova Prime takes to perform the test. We ending up with a new Avox 1000. The price for the Avox is also considerably less than the other analyzers although the Nova Prime+ I think was only 2-3K more. There is also less overhead with the Avox.

The ISTAT does not performed oxyhemoglobin so it is not an option. We do use it as our blood gas analyzer.
