proBNP

We had a request for an in house proBNP. What are folks using for this? There is no option at this time to add to our main chem analyzer. Is there a small stand alone analyzer for POC or main lab?

We are using the i-STAT for BNP at our freestanding ED/UC sites. I believe it's also available on the Triage MeterPro device.

Hi
I would ask why they want proBNP vs. BNP result before you jump through hoops for a POC test solution.  Most larger chemistry/immunoassay analyzers have BNP testing available.
Triage Meter device and Radiometer has a blood gas analyzer/chemistry analyzer with BNP and proBNP.

They use the proBNP on the heart transplants for monitoring rejection. Currently we send these out to Mayo but the TAT is 1-3 days. They plan to start using it more and that won't work for them. I don't think our volumes are very high so we're going to explore a more local option for send out first.
