Correlations

Good afternoon,

My name is Marvise Middleton, I work in the POC department with Renee Warren at GW Hospital in WDC.

We are new to the Listserv, and look forward to conversation and feedback from the group.

Renee and I do a lot of validations for new iStat instruments and comparisons semi-annually,  getting the freshest sample to do the comparison can be challenging, with regard to the analytes being compared in the cartridge.

We were hoping to get some feedback on some of your experiences or suggestions on how to minimize the stress of it all. (I say that with a smile)

Look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your time

Hello!  I schedule a date with the chemistry department to confirm they will be staffed appropriately to assist in correlations. Then, I have our phlebotomists collect an extra lithium heparin tube (with any patients who have CBCs) during morning run and I run my correlations alongside the Chemistry department. They collect about 20 samples and I compare the H/H with the CBC results and the other results with chemistry. Even if the results are kind of crazy, you are comparing them with the results being run at the same time with chemistry. This has been acceptable for us and has made it an easy process. Hope this helps.
