Refractometer controls

If you are lucky enough to still have refractometers on your nursing units--what are you using for controls?
Looking for new ideas and preferably a product that can be purchased rather than made in the lab.
Thanks
Kim

Hi Kim,

We are using the thermo scientific MAS Urinalysis Liwuid Assayed Urinalysis Controls level 1 &3. I was unable to find the specific item number but they come in 15 or 60 ml plastic bottles.

Regards, Brystal

We use Alta Urine Controls (301-12). Fisher catalog #23-770892. 18 month refrigerated vial stability, or 8 weeks ambient. Our price is $213.36 for 6 20mL vials (3 normal and 3 abnormal) if that helps!

Yikes - just curious as to what you have refractometers on nursing units for (clinical purpose) - considering it's a moderately-complex test, is it worth it?  No waived options?  :)
