Sofia 2 instrument lifespan

Does anyone have any information on the lifeplan of the Sofia 2 instrument? We have had a rash of replacement ones needed in my clinics and I just want to see if these are getting to the end of their life.

Thank you.

I will be interested to see other's feedback on this one.  We implemented 11 devices in early 2021 and they have been used heavily.  I have had about 3 device failures due to error code 250.

Hi
We have had Sofia 2 analyzers since 2017.  One of which is still going!  I would have to say they last 2-4 years with constant use.

A couple of "tricks" to keep them going:
  • Clean the cassette tray monthly.
  • Make sure staff aren't slamming the tray into the analyzer - this causes splashing onto the optics causing Invalid results
  • Fix the transmission errors - if the analyzer can't capture the cell signal during the upload time it will continue to keep trying causing the battery to warp and get stuck in the analyzer.
