VITROS 5600 verse Abbott Alinity

At first glance, the Vitros system appears to be expensive. However, when you take into consideration 1) minimal maintenance time 2) calibrations ONLY every 6 months (and you can do your AMR at the same time) and 3) the EASIEST system to use and train any new techs........it is actually less expensive and a great time saver. No early morning "getting the locomotive warmed and started" (calibrations, liquid reagent loads, different calibrators/diluents). QC run q 24 hrs ( generally have the night shift run the two levels). Morning runs are load and go!

We use both for chemistry here, but we use the Alinity for immunology tests only. These are newer machines at two different locations, and they are always breaking. Abbott service isn't quick to fix them either.
