RALS 6.0 and higher vs. Telcor.

Hello all,
Currently using RALS 6.0 sp4 for NOVA glucometers and eQuiz for annual competencies and auto glucometer recertification.  I am aware of the new and improved functionality of the upgrades in the 7.0 upgrades.

Has anyone moved from RALS to Telcor?  Pros, Cons, insight would be appreciated!

Tightening the belt straps hospital-wide.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi Amanda. Just some background, I've used PWeb, the old RALS, UniPOC and Telcor. My current hospital upgraded to the RALS 7.0 shortly after I got here and I do not like it. I find it bulky and hard to navigate. I've had a hard time finding and setting up reports and even certifying staff seems to take extra steps. I miss Telcor and will be working on changing us to Telcor in the next year or so! By the way, their support is really good! We haven't need RALS support since we only have hemochrons

Hi Amanda-
I can echo some of Jessica's sentiments. We had to upgrade to the new RALS- 7.12, for us-- in order to implement our Hemochron GEM 100s. It has definitely taken some getting used to; some things are very nice- like the Levey-Jennings. However, we have found that there are some peculiar 'bugs'- like no military time, the search feature on the operators page stopped working, certain filters don't work the way you want them to (and there are more- those are just off the top of my head)...in some ways it was like a step backwards, and the only answer we get to these issues is that "they will be resolved in a future version of RALS".  How they "upgraded" by taking away functionality that was previously available in the 'old' RALS is beyond me. The no-military-time one is especially mind boggling.  Apparently, that has been remedied in an upgrade that is now available, but we're going to wait for a few more versions to come out before jumping on that crazy train again! I have to say that Abbott has not done good things for RALS.
Unfortunately, I can't speak to Telcor, because we've never used it.
