eye pH paper

Hello,
For those of you who have or perform eye pH testing, what type of pH paper are you using?  We have seen where some of the controls don't work on our paper and this is from multiple facilities and with different lot numbers.  Has anyone else had this issue?

Just curious if you can clarify what paper and controls you are currently using?

Buffer 10.0 PH 16 oz.  | RICCA / 160116  | Fisher Healthcare / 1601-16
Buffer Solution pH 4.0 (20 C) with fugicide, citric acid/soudium hydroxide/ sodiume chloride solution, traceable to SRM from NIST  | Honeywell-Fluka / 33643100ML
 | Fisher Healthcare /  60-024-44
Hydrion Micro Essential Lab pH test strip Range 1-11

      | Hydrion Micro Essential Lab pH test strip Range 1-11  | Owen & Minor Inc. / 17500MES51  | Thermo Fisher Scientific / MES-51

ph paper: Hydrion paper with a pH range 0-13     Thermo Scientific Buffer solutions as controls- 3 levels (4.0, 7.0, 10.0)

Hydrion paper Range 1-11; RICCA pH buffers 5 and 7

We use microessentials pHizatest paper. Our quality manager determined the pHizatest paper is approved for use in testing human specimens where most other types/brands do not specify they are acceptable for use on human samples. We use Fisher buffers 5, 6 and 7 as our QC. We did a yearlong study at multiple facilities running monthly QC using the same opened rolls of paper. QC was acceptable at all three levels for the entire year.

Yes, I thought about using pHizatest because the buffers worked on that test strip; however, the paper only reads 4.5-7.5 and the ED needs something that reads higher than 8.

We are in the middle of re-evaluating which pH paper we should use/switch to based on the same issue that Patricia Carl shared above around many of the pH papers not being approved for us on bodily fluid and are more so geared towards testing ph of water (based on conversations directly with the manufacturers). We have been using the quanitmetrix urine QC as the QC for the ph paper. This is a very timely conversation and appreciate the collaboration!
